whenever i start the car it automatically revs up "by itself". it makes a pretty big acceleration sound, then starts going around 20mph if i keep my foot off the gas. before, i didn't have the revving sound and with my foot off the gas the car would only go 10mph or less, and it idles at a higher level than normal. also, this is causing the temperature gauge to go up at a fast rate.

any suggestions? thanks.

check to see if your throttle is caught on something?

IAC needs to be cleaned or replaced. Check the TPS voltage, too.

thanks for the response.

so i didn't do anything at all because i was driving around a lot today. the problem kept happening and the check engine light eventually came on. i drove around some more and the problem stopped, the light also went off.

maybe something was holding up the throttle and it fell loose. if it happens again im going to have to check that other stuff though.
