ex. lights. ok if on?

got a stupid q. if i go throught the system check in my 95, when it gets to the light check stage it says "exterior lights ok if on". however, they are all clearly off. auto lamp, isnt on, all lights are definately off. can somone explain?

It means it won't recognize a burnt out bulb unless you have the lights on while doing the check.
