Any Hub Swappers Try 05 Cobra Wheels Yet?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm about to do a 5x4.5 hub swap and I've been looking for a nice set of 18's. I came across these and thought they would look badass on my black-1. They're made for the 2005+ Mustang GT 5x4.5 with a +36mm offset and 6.41" backspacing. As I said, I'm swapping to SN-95 spinldes, so I hope these will work out.

Has anyone who has completed the Stang hub swap used 05+ Mustang rims? Any pics or clearance problems? I'll be running 245.45.18's all around and I plan on a 13" brake upgrade. Please tell me that there won't be any clearance or rubbing issues!

I hope they fit- I really like these...

OEM 05+ wheels are not going to fit that well since the offset is all crazy.
Aftermarket will be a lot better, as they get close with the offset to where it needs to be.
However, watch out for deep dish style wheels as even with 36mm offset the spokes will hit the calipers, especially cobra style ones.

But the fr500 wheels look like they have enough clearance for the calipers so you should be good to go. With that tire you should have zero issues.

well offset cant be read straight across the board..
+30 offset on a 16x6 is alot different than on a +30 on a 18x9 wheel.
off set is the distance from the center line of the rim to the mounting face of the wheel. without going into sae/metric conversion, we can all agree that 3" +30mm is alot less than 4.5" + 30mm, correct?
for the 9" wide wheel to sit the same distance off the hub (towards the outside of the car) as a 6" wide wheel, the offset would have to be much greater. but as you increase the offset on a wider wheel, you also force much more wheel into the wheel well, and it may hit steering/suspension components.

That's exactly why I wrote what I did.

All good points but with deep dish wheels (like most 05+ bullitt style) the spokes are curved very deep, thus creating other problems with the calipers.

Stock 05+ GT Bullitts will hit calipers, no doubt about that.

Stock m8 wheels are 16x7 BTW.

Hello all !!
What is the stock M8 will offset?? Is it +30 or +40 ???

Posted by: m_maker

+39 for 7" rim (stock)
+36 for 9" rim (most commonly used aftermarket)
+32 for 8" rim (also fits and looks good)
