(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Some guy gave me a maf sensor from a 96 cobra, tuned for 24 #'ers...now it fits and all, but the harness doesnt quite match up, i have no problem cutting up the connection, but do the four prongs on the harnes, meet properly with the four prongs on the sensor?

Im pretty sure that you CANNOT use obd2 maf sensors on obd1 cars... Somebody correct me if im wrong.

Mr Wilson, don't you do any research before trying to put parts on your car? The 96-98 Cobra mass air is the exact same unit as in the 96-98 Mark VIII, 80mm.

what do you think this is...research, dur?

you ever try to fit a mark8 harness into a cobra maf sensor, it dont fit.

so other than the fittment, the electronics side of things, does it match up, it looks like it does, but you never know with f-rods.

Just get a C&L unit.

Along with 96's. Its just gotta be an obd2 car....

Posted by: MrWilson

well then i think the easiest thing would be to convert to obd2!

there is a company that makes a connector that will fit. Just dont hook up the air temp sensor. that is what the 2 extra wires are for.
once it is fitted the transfer function for the maf will be wrong. The LMS unit suddenly looks like a better option huh ?? LOL

i have the lms unit...there is no sensor included in the deal, its just the housing and the filter.

and...there are 4 connections on the harness, and on the sensor...idk what your talkin bout with 2 xtra wires.

The best option with the least troubles is the stock maf housing...

iv always thought that and said that, and now after havin a bigger one with no need for it (no exhaust or nothin like that to require better induction), i continue to believe the stock one is best suited for it. When i get the new sensor im gonna try the stocker again and then the lms maf, at the track, and ill see for myself just what the diffrence is. I do like the k/n like filter though.

Yes, I chopped the mother fcuker right off. I had to use a die grinder on it too. I ended up painting it black because of all the scuff marks it had on it.

Your best bet would be to get a junkyard housing and play with that one...

Um, they make cheap MAF adapters so you don't have to do that.
