Looking good!

Posted by: poniesviii

That's what factory height should have been from the factory.

Lookin good.

Posted by: Dominus

Looks awesome.

Posted by: JC1994

did mine last june with no regrets whatsoever btw, looks great man.

Posted by: turborich

Looks good, I would consider doing the conversion if the front just sat a tad bit lower. How does it ride vs. the air?

Posted by: JC1994

way better ride, and handling. no BS.

Posted by: turborich

Do you know if they make a lowered kit that puts the front lower than the back? About 1" or so?

Posted by: JC1994

none that I know of, it will settle more in the front after the springs break in. it took mine a good 1000 miles to settle.

Posted by: Calabrio

Of course the ride is better, your air ride system was broken and slammed prior.
Leaf springs would provide a better ride than a pancaked air ride system.

Posted by: JC1994

bullsh!t, when I replaced them, they only deflated on the front after sitting for a couple of days and the back was fine, I bought my car in 1999 it only had 40,000 miles on it and the air-ride worked fine but rode like sh!t from day one. you need to watch what you say before you put your foot in your mouth dude.

Posted by: 98LSC32V

I like the way the air ride feels on the road.

Posted by: LuxurySportCoupe

Eff Air suspension. Nice car dude. You should tint your windows...it would compliment the color quite well.

You've failed to contradict anything I said, so explain how my "foot is in my mouth."

Posted by: LuxurySportCoupe

You implied he was a dipsh!t because he had a slammed air ride and said it rides better. When in fact, he didnt have a slammed air ride, it was just leaking.

So he commented back implying your a douche and that you my friend made an absolute retarded comment without knowing the circumstances at hand.

How is that hard to see?

This was the comment made in the first post. Granted, JC didn't make it. I wasn't speaking specifically to JC. I attributed his comment to the original poster. Repeatedly, people post that they switch to coil conversion and the ride is "better" than air ride.

Sure it is, you had a broken air ride and now you have a rebuilt suspension. But a new air ride system is clearly a more comfortable ride than a coil spring set up. Or is a Thunderbird equally as comfortable as a Mark VIII? A T-bird is comfortable, no doubt, but not AS comfortable.

It's pretty simple. Or did Lincoln install an elaborate and expensive luxury suspension on these cars when the same thing could have been accomplished just as well with a coil spring?

I got about a 1 1/4 drop on you.

I apologize for the remark I thought you were talking to me. I also liked my air ride on the highway but not in town it was way too harsh. but all in all I say it still rides better now and handles better too. I am used to cars with coil springs under them. it handles much more predictably.

Thanks man!! window tint is on the way too!! I can't wait. I don't know why I have waited so long to do it.... guess I was too busy with other mods.

Looks good mine is way lower though for some reason I used to strutmasters kit and I love it my front sits on top of the tire and the back covers the tire a little bit because of the 200 pounds of stereo in the trunk

Posted by: JC1994

I got the strutmasters kit too, those pics are about 4 months old. it has settled another .5 inches in the front. it took a good 1000 to 1500 miles for them to fully settle.

I don't know why so many people have a problem with the air suspension in the city. We have some of the roughest roads here, and man is the air suspension so much more forgivable than a spring setup.

Of course, I replaced my suspension with all new OEM Ford parts, with Eddie's compressor and spider valve, so my suspension is in top shape.

A Gen1 owner who had ride problems with their air suspension might want to consider that they may have had problems with their electronic shocks, rather.

Posted by: JC1994

I don't know what it was but it rode like a lumber wagon in town, so hard that it broke one of my rear shock mounts. on the highway it was fine. even my 80 year old dad thought it rode rough in town. he has 2 Caddy's a 95 and a 96 sedan deville. now he thinks and I do too, that it rides better than his Caddy's, and they both are cherry cars with low miles.

I remember test driving some Mark VIIIs before I bought mine, years ago, that rode like buckboards too. It was bad enough I almost completely lost interest in buying a Mark.... but then I found a few more.

Posted by: JC1994

yeah I was embarrased to let people ride in town with me because the first thing they would say is "aren't Lincolns supposed to ride nice?"

Posted by: shiryu0

i have about ~500 miles on mine, so itll probably settle down a bit more......handles WAY better .........theres this little S curve out in the country i found, marked at 25mph.....i can now take it at 55mph without my tires screaming for mercy, or having the SUV-like body roll ......... lol

Posted by: turborich

Your car looks good, I myself just prefer the front to be dropped a bit more. I sensor lowered mine so the front is about 1 1/4" lower. My mark VIII rides great with the air ride. However If the air ride started to have a bunch of problems then I might consider converting it over.

your car look's so good!! I agree with you on the handling too. you can't go too low in the front turborich, cause it really screws with the geometry.

Posted by: turborich

I've got mine to the point that I still have a decent ride on the freeway when it lowers, My friend on the other hand wanted his lower, when he's on the freeway his front end bounces. I told him that we should pick it up a bit but he doesn't want to. His car does look good while it's driving like that though, it looks really mean. As long as your "LINCOLN AINT SINKIN" then I guess it's all good!

Posted by: JC1994

you mean like this???

Posted by: Staffamerica74

my friends with the messed up trans has one and i drove it the other day and man oh man what a difference in handling it feels like a sports car. Mine feels like a truck lol

Well too bad it can't be driven that way, I think it looks mean like that.

Posted by: JC1994

I agree. they do look cool when slammed to the ground. you can do that with Ray's control module, it controls the front and back.

Posted by: 94m5

I HATE the way my 95 rides, but it more than makes up for it's self when you hit a hard corner at speed.

275/40/17's, aftermarket sways, poly bushings through out, and bilistien on all 4 corners. Brentalan can tesitfy to how well this combo holds the road.

but for an everyday driver........HATE HATE HATE

i didnt think it was that bad, but you said the road was ok too, and i was thinking maby its so rough cuz the wide a$$ed tires (but they look so good) ive heard the ride is worse with bigger rims even though 17 are small anymore but the 40 series might be killing the ride quality i know you have to have a spair set of rims and tires somewhere, i'd try stock'ish size and just run around the block and see
