Headlights...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Well,

1986 Lincoln Town Car

Replaced the headlight switch and still didn't fix the problem.

When you pull out the switch to turn on the lights nothing comes on as far as the headlights go. All the corner and back lights come on but no headlights.

When I hit the high beam switch all 4 lights come on.

Anybody know why this would happen?

Mike

i had a 89 5.0 with a similar problem, and believe it or not, it was the blinker switch. you can try it, but no guarantee

That blinker switch is called the "multi-function switch"

It even controlls your rear tail lights when you step on the brake. Do the high beams work? If not try to wiggle the turn-signal switch. If they flicker than that's your problem.

If it STILL doesn't work check the relay (sorry, don't recall which one right now) and see if you hear it atleast (have someone switch on/off the switch and listen. Do you have the auto-on? My 1987 does and that may also be acting funny for you?

There's a place to start, hope we can get to the bottom of this!
