You should use the factory HID system. Anything else will be inferior.

This is a 3 part answer:

Stock Gen1 housing: You can install an HID kit in this housng of proper bulb format, and it will work fine, however, the stock housings are inferior in design. Better to go with OEM HID's.

Stock Gen1 HID housing: Hell no.

Stock Gen2 HID Housing: Hell no.

What do you want a deeper color for? Not only will it look like some kind of import sh!tbox, but 8000K has FAR FAR FAR less lumens than stock, so you won't be able to see as much at night. There's NO POINT at all.

what if i didnt go with the oem hid and got an aftermarket one like from hid.com will it make a huge difference?

You're not listening, guy... well, reading, in this case. OEM HID is the way to go. I can't even find any HID stuff for the mark VIII on hid.com.

If you attempt to put an HID into non HID housings, the light pattern will be everywhere, and will piss off a lot of oncoming people. That, and it won't be as safe at night.

But you go ahead and try it out. Let the non HID mark owners know how it worked out for you.
