Cabbin air filter? Where is it?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: k9t8m

Has anyone ever changed the cabbin air filter for a gen 1? Where is it? Thanks

you have to remove the plastic cover below the passenger side windsheild wiper and it's under that.

The mark VIII's have a cabin filter?

~goes to look~

Posted by: Dominus

yes, they do

Posted by: Frogman

I don't see it. I pulled off the wire mesh top piece, and I can see the blower down there. (the car is already apart, so it's all good).

Posted by: Dominus

Maybe yours is missing the filter?

Where you can buy a replacement?

If it has one, I can safely assume mine hasn't been changed or cleaned since..... well, 1993.

14.11 for the '98.
I can't find any mention for a gen1.

nevermind

Posted by: Dominus

You can pick it up at just about any auto parts store for the same price. Bout 14 smackers.

i found this fram filter, but no way will it fit in my 95,my opening is oval not rectangle,i guess if you just buy a filter and cut it to fit snuggly in the opening you can have a cabin filter on any car.

Cabin filter on the VIII? This is news to me. While I check for the cabin filter, I think I'll change the blinker fluid while I'm at it

Posted by: Frogman

Don't forget to grease the muffler bearings and check the tension on the pistons rebound springs.

Posted by: vr4

you know.....i still have to put on my cross drilled brake lines. they came in yesterday.

I don't like rock auto...they don't even stock a radiator cap for my '68 VW Bug.

Posted by: Dominus

According to all of my info, this was a 98 only feature. Can't find crap for the Gen 1s. Sorry if I mislead anyone.

Posted by: shiryu0

service manual does not mention a cabin filter........... .......anybody got a pic of it installed

Posted by: Dominus

Well, I'm retarded. I mistook my Conti for my Mark. I knew I had changed out the filter in one of them, and I swore it had been the Mark. It didn't help that the part number fo the filter I had gotten matched the part number listed for the Mark VIII filter.

It seems that there is some MASSIVE error which has caused several auto parts websites (partsamerica, rockauto, autozone, etc etc) to list the Mark VIII as having the Conti's cabin air filter.

This really sucks. They gave a cabin air filter to the frickin Taurus, but not the Marks? What a gyp. Oh well, I use recirculate almost exclusively, so I guess there's no reason to bitch.

Quite frankly, I regularly quite pissed off at some of the inexcusable oversight that went into the Mark VIII.

Crap headlights.
cracking a/c controls
that easily scarred rubbery trim
hollow sway bars
the list goes on... it's not like it was a cheap car.

It's no wonder the big three keeps losing market share.

...and wiper arms that rust!
