air suspension controller

ok, i have been searching the web and pondering how to gain my own controll over the air ride. i found a sensor lowering schematic off another site and he explaines how the height sensors work as follows...

"The reason the rear is different is because it is a different sensor. When I designed a modified height sensor system, I noticed that the front sensors needed additional voltage to cause a bleed signal while the rear needed a reduction in voltage. They work differently".

on this site he basically gives you exactly what wires to tap into from the height sensors...

http://www.module8.net/ under "technique"

so if you were to tap into the 2 front sensors with something that can vary voltage, like say a... dimmer switch, or a volume knob...

1.will it trick the computer into thinking that the sensor is losing/gaining voltage and raise/drop the car?

2. if so, how far will it drop? only as much as the sensor fully compressed would drop it? or could it give even more/less voltage to drop the car even more?

3. how fast will the car react to the sudden drop/raise? would it raise/drop immediately, or take time to react?

thanks guys, i realize i am a newb but i think i have a fairly good idea of how this system works, and think i might have a good shot at it.

any help would be greatly appreciated. this site is definately the best so far. you guys are great, and i want to contribute as much as i can without pissing off any of the senior members.

thanks guys.

newbie or not your help is appeciated none the less. that's what we are here for, to help each other. I have learned alot since I joined, and expect to learn lots more. welcome to the site. Ray is the air ride expert and should be able to answer your questions.

I'm not an air ride expert, but I do have Module VIII's installed in my cars.

If you "trick the computer" by changing the signal going to it from the ride height sensors, that's basically what the Module VIII does.

The computer takes average values from the sensors (to keep the car from adjusting on bumps and turns) so it usually takes about 45 seconds to act on the inputs from the sensors. This can be overridden though (to lower or raise the vehicle faster) by the courtesy lamp switch inputs (open and close the door).

ahh. forgot about the door ajar relation. thats how i can do it instantly! thanks for the quick response. any more thoughts to if this will actually work guys?
