Gauge Cluster removal

Hi I wanted to remove the gauge cluster to put some custom wood trim inside of it. I have a 2006 CTS and am having a problem removing it. I was just curious if anyone has done this and has any tips to get it out. It's starting to seem like i'm going to have to remove the whole dash to get it out. Do I just have to yank it once the bottom two screws are removed?
