Hesitation and Check Engine Light

My '98 with 69K started hesitating and then the CE light came on. My shop changed the plugs, fuel filter, and air filter and tried to clear the codes from the computer. No luck. Running just as badly and the CE is still on.
Any suggestions?

yeah, go to another shop

without the actual codes we can't really help you

Come to think of it, check the boots on your coils, make sure they aren't cracked..........then tell us the codes.

Yes It Your BOOT N COIL...DO A SCAN TEST..IT WILL TELL YA WHICH ONE(S) IS GOING...THEY SAY BY FORD LINCOLN MERC... THAT IF ONE GOES IT'S BEST TO CHANGE ALL AT ONCE...(well thats what they reccommend..lol of course they want to get you to spend money...) EAITHER DEALER OR ANOTHER SHOP GUY COULD BANG YA OVER 180 A POP WITH LABOR or IF YOU GO AS THEY GO...LOL WHICH IM DOIN CAUSE IM NOT MADE OF MONEY LIKE THAT IN ONE SHOT ..YA KNOW..LOL....just A Few Days Ago I Found My Self Buckin Alil..it Was The Same Feeling Before When I Think Number 8 Was On The Fritz That Was Changed And I Was Good To Go,now 1 Yr Later Or So ....back To The Operating Table...today I Changed Number 7!but funni thing was no engine light was on ..well yet..i guessing i got it in time before it went out completly And Im Good Again ! and he showed me the part..lol shiiit ..whatta mess it looked...the lil springy thingy..half was burned looking and the rest of it was silver in color..which it should be..anyhow,now im hopein i should be good for awhile longer before i hit the table again...ehh im thinkin on my next oil change i'll knock um out and get'um over with.
umm i think the boot it self is like $28 and the coil is about 80..get both i think if im not mistaken they come togther. or seperate. so if someone reads this correct me on this.

My Guy Who Does My Car..told Me That In 2 Yrs Lincoln Wont Have Anymore Parts For This Car...we All Have To Resort To Eiather Ebay,or Junk Yard Findings..lol..which sucks ballz Thats If We're Lucky So My Suggestion Stock Up On These Coils N Boots!!!

also if your facing your engine..on your left is 1-4,and on your right is 4-8. hmm i think i got that right...hehehe

I can't see that as being possible because the mustangs have the same thing? Just imagine all the mustangs on the road and not having parts for them. Or, you could make an aftermarket coil/boot yourself and go into business in two years

it is quite true..both my local dealers are saying this...i got many second opinions... even my ford guy tell me too. i know it sounds crazy and yes ur right about the stangs..but unfortunatly for the mark 8's parts are gonna or maybe already obsolete..for example..when i needed a rear bumper..only 3 new ones were avaiable across the country and that was over 9 mnths ago and once thos are gone..that it no more being made.and even every place i called for pricing on the bumper to see if i was getting ripped off,al prices turned out the same btw... each guy said from those dealers that partsa for this car are going to be obsolete. ;(

you think THATS bad, when i broke the coolant crossover tube, we had to get the last one in the WORLD from Hong Kong!

ford dealer support is 10 years on their vehicles, then aftermarket...
codes please......

sounds like the shop was just throwing parts at it hoping it would fix it.

Oxygen sensors. You're describing exactly what happened to mine and that's what fixed it.
