I have tinted rear windows so my autodim mirrors aren't as effective as would be otherwise, and with tint your eyes adjust so they're more sensetive to light so I would still like the feature to work to it's full capability. I've been thinking of moving a sensor from another center rearview autodim mirror to my license plate, drilling a hole and installing it there. Does anyone know many wires run the sensor? If I extended the wires through the car, how many of you assume the sensor would be as effective? |

I do not see why you would not be able to do it. There are 3 wires that you will need to extend, at least that is what the book (EVTM manual) says, and they are as follows:
red/yellow stripe - 12v when the car is in the run position black/pink stripe - 12v when car is in reverse black - ground That should do it, there are more wires, but they are for the drivers side mirror and not really for the amplifier that is there for the function for the rearview mirror. ------------------------------------- You will prolly just want to tap into them, and run the wires to the trunk, unless you totally remove the amplifier and all from the other mirror with the sensor and all. Then, and only then will you not want to just tap into it......if that makes sense? |
