Hi my name is Tim. I am from MN, I went to a car dealer acouple of days to see what they would give me for my 2000 chrysler 300m with 125K they said $6K I found a 1995 Mark 8 fully loaded execpt for heated seats, with 99,000 miles and it they are putting in a used a engine this week other wise it's perfiect and they want $4900.

I forgot to mention the one of sales-men allowed his brother to use it and the guy drove it and and ran the engine down to no oil and blew the engine.

I and wondering if this is a good buy regarding the lincoln.

Thanks

Tim

You have to ask them about the new engine. Why the new engine? A new engine to me is a bad sign, because if the previous engine was beat, then so is the tranny and other components of the driveline. A bad engine to me says that the previous owners didn't give a about the car and I'd walk away from it.

P.S. Where in MN? I'm in the Twin Cities.

I agree, I paid that much for my '96 four years ago with 69k, in mint condition.

If the motor's toast, I'm sure the tranny's not in real good shape. These motors seem to last forever, tranny's don't. If it's going on it's second motor...... what kind of shape is the rest of the driveline? Prob not very good.

Check out the classifieds on markviii.org, there's a real REAL nice red '98 LSC over there going for cheap, without that many miles. Not sure on location, but if I was in the market for another one, I wouldn't care. I'd travel for it.

Good luck!

I recently purchased a rock-solid '98 with 60K miles for $4900. Does that help you?

I purchased a 1995 Mark VIII spring 05 for $3000. 118K for miles but miles mean nothing on these cars if it was cared for.

$4900 is way too much, and like the other's have said - tranny will need to be checked, also what's the interior like, what about the finish on the outside, how the air ride system. For $4900 that car should be mint.

Now on the other hand, you'll like the Mark VIII a lot more than that 300.

Oh, and on another note. I picked up my 95 in South Carolina. I'm in WI, you are in MN wich means that local cars have rust issues. I'd look into something further south. Go have fun fly out to get the car. You'll find on nicer, cleaner, and have a blast driving her home.

Oh and stop down in July for the LvC Mid Summer Meet in Boscobel, WI.... Info in my signature.

I paid 6k for a '97 that was impecable. That is even a little much. You could basically eat dinner off of my engine compartment when I bought it.
