does this transmission quirk sound familiar?

when I decelerate to 10 mph (say for a speed bump) there is a delay when I hit the gas. It's only a second but then it kicks alittle. The dealership says that it's a timing thing, because the transmission has just initiated a sequence and when I try to accelerate it has to back track. This only happens at 10 mph. I'm a little nervous because they just replaced the torque converter 6 months ago.

I've never really noticed it... but I think the dealer is right FOR ONCE. I mean if you look at rolling start racing, you always have a delay. Like 5-60 is always going to take longer than a 0-60. You dont have anything to worry about.

True, + the 03+ have the throttle by wire. This adds even more to the delay.

Yep, this is normal behavior for the 03+ models.

I also have a 2003 V8 Sport and this has hapened twice, but both times it was more than a kick - It was like I got hit from behind! Both times it was enough to snap my head into the headrest.

Once was a speed bump like yours, the other was a decell, acell roll at a light.
Both times it was with one foot on brake and one on gas.

I figured it was a torque converter not unlocking.

It hasn't done it for 6 months (I stopped driving with two feet...)

Frequently (more often than not) if I have to stop quickly, when I accelerate again the car stays in neutral until the RPM's are quite high then kicks like I've been rear ended and chirps the rear tires. It doesn't engage til like 3500 RPMs.

This can happen even if I stop quickly and then sit through a light. When I accelerate it does this.

next time you're out driving, slow to exactly 10 mph and see if you can replicate the problem consistently.

that sounds exactly like my torque converter problem...
