That's not necessarily or always the case, but, for the most part, it has been true of stock cars. I read an article several years ago about how GM built a '69 (IIRC) Camaro with a slushbox that was tuned such that it was actually quicker than the manual version, but it was notable for being the exception that proved the rule. |
