Need Updated Nav DVD

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

...tired of my '03 nav system not recognizing addresses, but the cost of an updated DVD is too high. Any chance of someone burning a copy of a later version?

you can't burn it...actually you can burn it but the system won't recognize the burned disc (trust me on this one). you can find them on ebay under $100. just keep looking every day. you'll find one.

Interesting...wonder why the system wont recognize the copied disc?

There's a barcode in the center hub of the disc. The reader reads that (you can't copy that part)

Just for fun, have you tried simply photocopying the barcode and applying it as a sticker to the disc? I don't know what it actually looks like and I'm too lazy right now to go and look...just conjecturing.

I suppose the easiest way to do that would be to scan the actual disc itself and just print it out as a label (covering the entire surface of the DVD, including the clear part in the center). Not sure if it'd work though. Wouldn't surprise me if it didn't.

no the barcode on a dvd is a type of reflective matierial build into the hub of the disc. Take your disc out and look at it. there'd be know way to do that.
