Rev limiter

It annoys me sometimes that I can only rev to 3,000 RPMs in Nuetral or park. Is there anyway I can take that piece of crap off? When I shift I bring it all the way up to 6500 (When I want to really get up and go), but I read somewhere that the rev limit is 5900?? I'm beginning to think with some of my differences that my car is ODD.
