Attn. Illinois/Wisconsin residents...4/29/06 LVC meet @ Union Grove, Wi...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: rocket5979

I talked to a few other members in here about having a meet at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, Wisconsin this coming Saturday. I just wanted to officially shout out to anyone else who would be interested in coming too.

Last time it was not too crowded at all, so we should be able to get some pretty good runs in. It would be a really fun time for anyone to just hang out with other LVC'ers and, if you choose, run down the 1320' to see what your car gots!

There are a few scheduled events going on that day so I will have to give the track managers another call to see what time they will be opening the gates for normal Test & Tune racers/spectators. Once I get definitive word back from them as to when the Test & Tune racing begins I will post back here with the details. Hopefully it starts at 10 AM like normal.

Here is the map to where it is located.

Great Lakes Dragaway is located 10 miles north of the Illinois/Wisconsin state line, 5 miles west of Interstate 94, Exit 337, Highway KR (Kenosha/Racine County Line) 1 mile east of US highway 45. The large red star marks the spot!
The track is located near the interstate, and there is an abundance of hotels and motels in the immediate area. Camping is also allowed on our grounds. (grass)

If anyone has any questions just post here or PM me. Hope to see you there!

Rob

Cool man. I think this time will be better now that we BOTH will have the LS's out. Plus the LS is easier to drive!!!

This starts at 10AM in the morning? If so, I may be able to make that. How long is everyone staying?

Posted by: pepperman

I would like to be there but with money tight every month with me, i am gearing up for the meet in Boscobel, WI, in July, at mespocks place. Everyone is welcome to attend that meet.

Posted by: mespock

We tried to do it last year but it fell appart!

other thread

Looked like it was going to be a good meet then it went bust.

Good luck!

I have track meets so I can't make it.

Yeah, sometimes things just tend to do that with so many people having different plans and work schedules. This stemmed from a few of us meeting at the track last week and then later talking about doing another track day this coming weekend. If no one else can make it then it will be business as usual. It would sure be cool to get some other members out here if they could come though!

Posted by: rocket5979

Why was this thread moved? It was supposed to remain in the MarkVIII side due to there being a few members that might be interested over there. I would have kept just the one thread for neatness, but I never frequent the midwest section on a normal basis, so I figure that others possibly don't either.

Sounds interesting. I will be in the Milwaukee area from Wednesday through Monday. I plan on moving up there and this trip is for me to look for a place to live and a place for employment. If you guys know of any place to get me started in Milwaukee any help would be appreciated.

I might be able to make it down to Union Grove but I have to see what my friends have planned on Saturday first. I'm assuming it will only take about an hour to get there from Brookfield?

Posted by: 02LSE96LSC91SE84TC

Not even a hour, use the bypass as downtown Milwaukee is screwd up with construction.

Even if this doesn't work out for some people this date, this is going to be a frequent thing for me this year. I plan to run my LSE a bit, its easy and fun to race. I can run my MarkVIII, I have a few things I going to do first. I even plan to run my Cobra II before the seasons over, it needs some tuning and help keeping the rearend in the car before I can run it. I know Rob didn't build the KBX for gettting groceries and sounds like his 05 LS may be the quickest N/A one out there, can't wait to see it run.

I hear ya there! I have been wasting away in the middle eastern deserts for 2 years waiting to get back so I can race again.

Hmmm, now you got me curious.

Fastest 3rd gen Explorer in the country (soon to be world) and fastest N/A stock engine LS too. Muawuawuawuawawa!!! I think I will need to hit 13's while still N/A to feel like I have any claim to that LS title.

Rocket,

I hope you can make it to the July Cruise, Beach Party, and LvC meet this summer.

No legal racing but a lot of fun. You are more than welcome. Read the July Meet threads...

Have fun at the track!!

Rich

I talked to the track manager tonight and got a better idea of when we would be able to race. There are two options available to us right now.

Option #1 Saturday @ 3PM-6PM with a 30% chance of rain. Track fee of $35

Option # 2 Friday @ 5:30 PM-10PM cloudy skies, no rain. Track fee of $28

I would be able to go either time but just putting the option out there for the people that actually want to go to this event. Once I get enough people voting for one option then we can go ahead and stick with that one.

I personally am leaning towards the Friday evening thing because it is cheaper, more race time, and almost zero chance of rain according to forecast.

Well people let me know so we can plan this!!!

PM sent

Posted by: rocket5979

Ok it looks like we will have to go with option # 2

Option # 2 Friday @ 5:30 PM-10PM cloudy skies, no rain. Track fee of $28

The weather just doesn't look like it will hold up, so everyone that I PM'ed and anyone else that wants to come on up just post in here and let us know.

There will be a fella from my other Mustang site that will be bringing his 1000+rear wheel horsepower twin turbo Mustang to the track and running 9's with it. It would be a good time to see a fast car go......well.......FAST! And then drool, be jealous, and generally wish our cars could be that fast.

Posted by: 02LSE96LSC91SE84TC

I'm there as you know. 1000hp Mustang huh, I bet his mommy's proud of him, JK. Yeh I'll be jealous and probably drooling, but then again I have a drooling problem, it has nothing to do with the HP. If I start babbling on about all my junk, just slap me, my wife does regularly.

Its cool, I'll bring a towel for you too.

1000HP, I may need more than a towel, I may need a little privacy.

We will have to swap cars before the Mustang races then. I don't want anything getting on my steering wheel!

I'm not rude, may want to watch your step thou.

Negative. theunclesam is coming too. A buddy of mine from a Mustang forum I am a part of will be there too, besides the turbo Mustang dude. I am still waiting on a few more calls and PM's from some other people who I invited. We may have a nice little group is people can show up Friday afternoon.

Posted by: 02LSE96LSC91SE84TC

Thats cool, my car is ready. Didn't pull the 20s thou, saving that for another time.

I'll mention it to Andy too. Maybe he and his guys will come again.

Cool, sounds good. Yeah I pulled the spare and other things already. I am also running damn low on gas, so I am right where I want to be. I wish I had the PRP database for my LS too so I could bump the timing a few more degree's. Oh well, we will have to see what cool air and letting the engine cool down for a while will do for it.

On a side note. I might be able to sell my stocker Explorer tires here soon! If I am able to do that then I will be able to buy the dry nitrous system for the LS and not feel bad about spending project KBX money for it. Man o man do I want 13's N/A and 12's spraying in the LS more than low 11's with the Explorer now! Achieveing 11's with the X will be easy compared to getting the LS into the 13's N/A, when considering money invested! Busting 12's should be no huge problem once I am spraying it though. I know the tranny can take it. Ok, I will stop ranting now. I am pulling my hair out!

BTW, I don't expect 13's tomorrow, but I hope to see 14.2's if things go well! I will cross my fingers now...

Posted by: 02LSE96LSC91SE84TC

Andy just Texted me back, he didn't say for sure, but said to touch base with him tommorrow and it sounded good. I didn't yank the spare yet but will, do have the gas down too. I was a smidge from 15.2 so I'm hoping to hit a 15.1 on the 20s. Oh yeah I just did a luanch a little while ago(beer run) in D5 and moved over to SST immediately after WOT and it didn't upshift on me, so I have that solved I think. Just have to get it over before to high in the rpms or she'll upshift when you move it over.

How did the day go? Any racing?

The day went pretty well. A few of the Mustang club guys made it out and then also a few of Jason's friends too. Overall it was a pretty fun time. A few people that planned to show up could not make it due to extenuating circumstances. It was a good time as always. Real cool guys to hang out with.

Racing? If I am not mistaken I think I won every race that night. I went up against a fellow LS owner one and then I also went up against a Mitsu 300GT, and I forget what else I was up against.

Posted by: 02LSE96LSC91SE84TC

Hey I'm that other LS owner, and its a LSE to you. Yeh you GenII guys think you so cool picking on us GenIs. I had a good time, ran better than expected, really think the LSE is more of a 1/4 miler than I ever gave it credit for. I wish I took the time to get a better look at that Twin T Mustang, but with racing, people showing up and stuff, I didn't get the chance. Andy hit two new bests with his EVO, a 1.7 60', and a 13.2 1/4. His buddy Mike hit a 12.6 with his alcohol injected EVO. You know even if you don't race, it would be cool to get some more LvC guys there. I just mentioned I was going to my buddy the first time we went(me and Rob) and Andy came with 2 more EVOes. This last weekend there was like 5 of them. There all pumped to go again. Every time we go we'll post, hope some more people make it, its fun.

LS, LSE.....You say tomato I say tomoto. Givin ya sh1t bud.

Yeah, it is definately looking like a somewhat regular event, us going to the track. Andy and Mike are pretty cool guys. It seems they will be regulars there too. I wish we could get discounted season passes instead of paying per time. hehe.

Posted by: mespock

Check out the Sept or fall schedule. Maybe we could have an LvC meet then.

June is Carlsile, July is Boscobel, August will be in Lombard. So Something in Sept. may work for more members.

sounds like you guys had a great time. Any Pics? If you do have some post them.

Posted by: 02LSE96LSC91SE84TC

How about videos. As often as we ran against each other, we didn't get a video of it. Robs friend Jim shot it for us, but he got there after it was busier so we couldn't line up against one another.

Posted by: 02LSE96LSC91SE84TC

Great, theres a few others that were suppose to come and it fell apart on them. We'll keep posting when we go, and more and more will make it. Even if you don't race its a good time. We don't race the whole time anyway. We usually run 3 times, then hang out and watch others race, then run again a few times before they close. My friend and his EVO clan have been coming, some of Robs friends too. The more the better.

Just saw this thread. Doh!

Would love to bring a Caddy into the mix one day at Da Grove. Plan to take it sometime this season to see what she has in her, but time is always a commodity.
I'll have to pay more attention to this section of the board.

Hey all don't forget about the Meet in July. There will be a car cruise Saturday afternoon with many custom Hot Rods, and some Classice Muscule cars besides our Lincolns and Cadillacs.

After the cruise the car will be displayed at the Beach Party where we will have concerts until 12:00 Midnight.

Check out the meet thread. All are welcome. So far we have LvC members coming from as far east as NJ and as far west as AZ with a bunch of IL, MI, OH, IN, and MO members coming.

Posted by: 02LSE96LSC91SE84TC

Pulled this back up. I went last weekend and if the weather is good this coming weekend I'm going to go again. They are only open 10-4 Sat and Sun. but I would call to make sure before you drive out. You can get alot of racing in as its not that crowded this time of year. I got 13 passes in with 3 cool downs, could have done 50 passes no lie.

Anyone interested?

Post here or PM me.
