airbag light

hey guys,

I'm the proud owner of a new(to me)90 mark VII LSC. I have used this forum to fix a ton of problems with it. tach, window motors, idle, spring conversion, and every other off the wall problems these car have. Now the airbag light comes on and blinks 9 times and stops for a few seconds then 9 times and continues to drive me crazy. Any ideas on what and how to fix this issue. Any input would help. Thanks in advance.

The nine blinks is reporting a specific fault with the system. Do you still have the bags, or did you convert to coil springs like you mentioned in your post? If you've converted to springs there should be a procedure they provided to disable the air suspension system.

It's the airbag light for the steering wheel I think because the airbag light of the suspension is in the overhead console or above the climate controls. This light is between the tach and the radio.

ROFL . . . I've been waiting for this one!
A safety impact airbag is called an "airbag". The suspension units in a Mark VII are called "Air Springs". .

So "Bagmaster" was ill-informed when he created a name for his empire. How funny is that! I wonder how many emails he gets for people needing safety airbags. . .

I found out the light code is (a Primary Crash Sensor Circuit - Open or High Resistance). Anybody know how to troubleshoot the problem?

this is a symptom not to mess with. a friend of mine is a tow truck operator/repo, i didn't tell him what the fault was, but he did mention that you should be careful as there have been instances of airbags "going off" with a bad sensor.

not sure if this is true but he was pretty serious about disabling the airbag before you mess with it.

just what he told me. don't need you getting blown up or burnt by a failing "srs".

I read it maybe a bad ground. So I will look into that. Does anybody no how to disable it?

Disconnect your battery.

And leave it to sit for awhile. They are designed to operate for a period of time after the battery is disconnected, so it is a good idea to leave the battery disconnected overnight to prevent any accidents.

being killed by a failing airbag should get you a darwin award. be careful.
