New Lamp Assembly not chromed?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I bought a brand new front parking light unit.
But intsead of the white plastic that's chromed on the inside, it's grey plastic without chroming.

What's all this about? Is it another one of those damned '92 year model cost cutters? It must be.
I also heard that the '92 rear tail light housings are plastic and not metal.

You are correct. I bought some SE tailights that are much lighter over my stock chrome ones, off a 92 mark vii.

Thanks for the info. This seems a little known factoid about these cars.

I was a bit surprised, at first, that no one had responded to the thread.

The date on the box is 04/16/02. The last year for '92 vehicle parts, so I guess I'm not surprised that it might be an "odd-ball" unit.

Well, at least the lens is brand new!
