Since I am tired of doing car repairs every week I bought the wife a new 2006 Hyundai Elantra GLS. We got a fairly good deal on it and it's not a bad little car and damn good on gas. Since the Lincoln will be freed up, I am taking it and making it into my fun weekend car and retiring it from daily driver duty. I have to fix my POS Sunfire first before I can take the Lincoln off of the road, but my master plan is almost complete

Congrats, my girlfriend drives a Elantra also, she bought it in 2004 new. Sometimes I get jelouse of her, because she has been drivin that car for 2 years now and not a single problem, my damn LS, so many problems. It's a good car. Good luck with it.

Hey Scott,
My wife was thinking about a Saturn GS1 or something small.
Then yesterday she drove her sisters small little 4 banger. Had to go pick up he nephew's car.
As she took it on to the express way she stepped on the gas to get it up to speed and noticed no power.
She called my sell phone and side.. There is no way I'm getting another little car. I need a nother Mark VIII.
I guess she's just spoiled. Might have 3 Mark VIII's by the July Meet.
I know there are issues with them from time to time, as with any older car. She does like my friends LS, but I doubt she'll pay that much for a car yet.

I'm not really having that many problems with the mark VIII, but as a daily it is using too much gas. We have already figured that the gas savings will pay approx. 2/3 of the car payment. With my wife driving it there is no way to do the things I want to do to it (like adding 4.10 gears, T-lok etc), but now it will be freed up. The car is surprisingly peppy for a 4 banger. The 5 speed certainly helps, and the free tires for life, 5 years of free roadside and 10 year 100,000 mile powertrain is also good. I like the little car, I am hoping to fix my POS Sunfire if it can be fixed so that the Lincoln can become my weekend toy.

Oh, and I got just at 40 MPG on the trip back from Baltimore, better than the 34 listed on the window sticker.

MPG is a big factor. Heather keeps thinking of safety... That's her biggest draw to the Mark (as you well know how safe they are)!
So Heather feels that the MPG vs. Safety the Safety wins. Plus with her driving the 4 banger or V-8 would do about the same until she get's on the Hwy.
