How many cats?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Does anyone know how many catalytic converters came standard on the 1991 LSC?
My intermediate pipe broke and while it was on the hoist the mechanic let me poke around underneath
I saw 4, 2 right after the headers, and 2 more after the H.
That whole section looked pretty rough, so I figured I would start buying the replacements a bit at a time until I'm ready to put on whole new system.
Summit racing's replacement cats only show 2 after the H and none before.

you only have two cats. I haven't looked under the car in a while but I would assume you probably have a couple of resonators down stream.

There are 4 cats like you described - 2 directly after manifolds, 2 down near the H...

Yup, 4 cats.

Yes, Factory is 4.
Aftermarket cats are "high flow" and normaly use only 2.
Well worth the cost. But beware...Flowmaster does not advise x-pipe for some of their mufflers, if you have them. They sound best with an H-pipe config.

Thanks folks,
Looks like the most cost effective cat replacement is Jegs I think
2 cats and an H pipe, oem replacement
Not sure if I'm going to do anything extra special
When my intermediate pipe came off I didn't like the loudness at all, drone, drone.
