20HP increase

Can someone tell me if using a 3,100ohm resister to override the sensor and tell the computer that it is receiving air at an optimum temperature of 53 degrees works? If it does, why not just go to radio shack and buy a resister cheaper than what is advertised on ebay. See the web site below. Thanks,

I believe it changes the impedance of the MAF, almost like a chip advancing the timing. I wouldn't do it though because it only changes one aspect of the system and doesn't make everything jive together, if that makes sense.

it would make the car run rich , also shipping $3 more like $.40 to mail it . it's a scam I laghed my ass off when I got mine in the mail. I set in next to my Computer so I wouldn't for get what a fool I was

Get a real tune from SCT and you will be much happier and will actually make your car faster.

Do not mess with that crapola. Stay far away from it and get an SCT tune via Xcal1 or 2.

Who would recommend an Xcal2 retailer? The last one I dealt with for my SVT Focus will not get my business again.

I sure hope this thing works better on the LS than it did on my Focus......

Torrie@fastpartsnetwork.com is the tuner most of us us and has done many many LSes
Here is the website: http://www.fastpartsnetwork.com/

we used this trick back in the old days by throwing the IAT into the freezer and then measuring the resistance - then swapping it out for a resistor of that ohm. Modern cars sense that the value is 'stuck' on a single value and many LS owners that tried this find their car is peppy for a day, then the PCM adjusts it out and eventually throw a code saying the IAT is bad.....

you really do not want to tell the car 'it is cold out side' - you really want to add more fuel and timing under WOT - the XCal is the only way.

Posted by: Rodewaryer

So it can be confirmed that the Xcal2 will remove the top speed limiter? No, I'm NOT talking about the rev limiter, but the TOP SPEED limiter that seems to be at 134 mph on my car.

Posted by: Quik LS

yes - there are 1000 thread on this. Just make sure you have tires go for ~150-ish

Posted by: Rodewaryer

No worries on the tires, Pirelli Pzero Rosso, 255/40-18 Z-rated. Lovin the car's stance and grip.

Talked to a tuner, his suggestion was CAI, exhaust, then do the CAT's (either high flow CATs or off road pipes with dummy senders for the O2 sensor) then the SCT tune......I'm hearing the CAT work results in quite noticeable power improvements.....

Did you give up on the Jag Mina project?

Can you explain the offroad pipes and dumby senders?

"Off road" pipes mean no cats therefore illegal to drive on the street legally therefore the name.

Dummy senders give the computer signals like the coverters are still there so the CEL doesn't come on.

Thanks, I thought he ment like off road type stuff. I was like ....what?

Posted by: Quik LS

I believe when the dynoed the LS with and without cats - it was less than a 3hp increase....

Interesting, my Focus gets 7hp and 9 lb ft with the ORP (off road pipe) but 'seat of the pants' it felt like even more than that. I would have thought this sort of thing would be akin to a percentage gain, the more HP you have, the gain would be proportional and the Focus only has 170. Only three hp on a car that has 280......? To have cats that flow that good 'stock' sounds too good to be true.

Can you suggest where that info can be found, or confirmed? I'm not challenging, it's just that if it's true I wouldn't waste any time with the cats in that case, especially with high flow cats, they aren't cheap.....

i dont get that SCT flash thing which one do i buy?> because there is none for a lincoln ls 2000. help me out here

Posted by: Quik LS

IMHO - you buy it from a tuner that does lincoln LSes - don't buy it from SCT directly. If you do a search you find a couple of recommended places - I personally use Torrie form FastPartsNetwork.com - you can e-mail him at torrie@fastpartsnetwork.com like recommended in post#7

Yep. The only one's that SCT offers are the SF Strategy Flashers. While they do have SF availability for the LS's it is still nowhere near as good as a real custom tune from the SCT custom tuner of your choice.
