Few Q's with mY LS..

THE ls so far has given me nothing but GREATthings
I have driven it 1000 miles already, not one issue

but a few Q's, one in regards to something very stupid i did
I was goin up an icey hill and when i almost reached the top the rear wheels began to spin. So i decided to go reverse back down the hill, i did, BUT I DIDNT change gears. I left the brakes and the car was reversing while on D4, i didnt notice for the first 20 seconds, i was reversing really slow, then i noticed. I was so pissed at my self. I quickly changed it. The car is still running great, everything seems to be fine, is it possible that i could have done some damage?

Also:
I hit the fuel botton today and it said that I'mdoing 6 MPG. are the MPG sensors in the car usually off?

Now my last concern is keeping the front seats wrinkle free. How does everyone manage to do that?

Posted by: itsnotmydaddys

if i were u i would disconnect the battery for 30 min. to reset everything the comp. has memorized than connect it and that may help ur mpg issue.

no clue on the mechanical problem but for the seats you really cant stop wrinkles ther are gonna happen cause your sitting on them, but to protect them and maybe slow down the wrinkle and wear proccess use a conditioner, i use armor all leather wipes and they seem to be good.

You probably didn't do much damage, if any, with your icecapade. Until the torque converter reaches stall (which it obviously hadn't, or you wouldn't've been going backwards in D4), the driveline is not solidly linked, so there'll be some room for slippage. Obviously, it's not something you want to do, but every now and then probably won't be fatal for the tranny. I wouldn't worry too much.

My experience is that the mileage calculator is fairly accurate. If you want to find out, follow the manual's procedures for calculating mileage by hand, then compare it with the computer's readout. It's possible that there were some conditions that led to abnormally low mileage readings for some time; just like any arithmetic mean, the lower it is, the long it'll take to go back up. You can reset to MPG computer, and you'll get a figure that's closer to what your car is really doing.

The only way to keep the creases out of the leather is to stay off the seats, that's just a fact of life. I've heard recommendations ranging from regular use of leather conditioners to just letting the dang things age naturally, but the results both seem to be about the same over time...

Thanks, very helpful answers.

OK, today was a weird day.
ive put 2000 miles on my LS in about a month...

Some times when I turn my ignition key the car doesnt turn on, then I do it again and it turns on right away...

Well today it happened twice in a row... I turned the ignition to turn the car on and it didnt then i attempted to do it again but didnt turn on. The third time it turned on right away...

Is there a chance that it will get worse, is this a big issue, let me know

I have a 2001 ls V8 and i had similar problems. I would have to hold the ignition down several seconds....5-10 sometimes....but it always started.
Never a problem when engine was warm. I could turn it off then back on 50 times and it would start right up. Only after it had been sitting for over an hour would it start again....but not always.
Does that sound like your problem?
I had this prob for over a year...i didnt have the money to fix it. Finally i took it in. It ended up being 2 bad fuel injectors. Cost me $200 for the 2 injectors and about $350 labor.

You mean it's turning over but not starting or that nothing at all is happening? Any clicking noises?

My bes bet would be something to do with the ignition system. I wonder if the key would be a problem, like the ignition will turn but it doesn't recognize the key to turn the car on. I'm just guessing, don't take my word for it.

You might need a new battery. This has happened to me before. Check the battery before you take it in for ignition system problems.

If you mean that you turn the key and nothing happens, check the starter relay. It's in the Power Distribution Box in the engine compartment, on the leading edge of the passenger-side wheel well, behind the headlight. I think the relay is marked in the manual. (I had a bad starter relay, but the dealer fixed it under warranty.)

It could be something like a bad ground or a weak battery or a bad starter or a PATS problem, but the relay is the least expensive (and easiest) fix.

That could be the "leaky injector" problem; try searching for that (it's been discussed in the past, IIRC).
