Someone here with inside knowledge explain to me how this happened.. the MKX is a totally different segment (car chassis)
1. Couldnt be poor sales..I see a million Aviators here in Houston and in Florida
2. Lincoln now no longer has a true mid-size SUV to compete with the Lexus GX470, not everyone wants the Navi, and I sure as hell dont want that disgusting MKX with a V6 and min-van looks.
3.All I can think of was the car didnt share many parts with the Explorer, there are alot of exclusive parts to the Aviator, so maybe it wasnt cost effective? But then again the Navi, is quite different than the Expedition..
I simply just dont get it and am so upset because this is the best SUV, with the best engine bar none and a great price...they could have had both SUVs like Lexus does and BMW does and Mercedes is about to.

I agree that it's a shame the Aviator was discontinued. Despite your numerous sitings, the vehicle simply did not sell well at the price point that Lincoln was offering it at. The list price for a base Aviator was similar to the list price for a base Lexus GX470; unfortunately, Lexus has a much better image and reputation for quality than Lincoln which helps justify a higher price. The GX is also a solid off-roader; the Aviator has no lockable center differential and is not intended for off-road use. All that being said, the Aviator has its strong points - the high performance engine and the well-appointed interior which is spacious and versatile. I bought an '05 Aviator a year ago - but only when the dealer dropped the price ridiculously low - and have really enjoyed it.
