Problem Slowing Down

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm Having A Problem Slowing The Car Down At High And At Low S Peeds. I Can't Make It Slow Down Or Stop On Time When Applying The Brakes. I Got The Rotors Cut And New Pads At 93500 Miles, know Is 97000 Plus Miles. Also The Brake Pedal Feels Fine It's Not Low Or Soft It's Just Not Responding As It Should. Has This Happen To Anybody? I Only Had The M8 For About A Year And I Want To Last For Years To Come. Thanks Jr[/i]

have the rotors measured they are prob. too thin and the cal/pads cant grab the rotors good enough to do a panic stop ill bet money that if you replace the rotors it will be perfect

try bleeding the brakes. thats always a good place to start.
if you got the rotors cut, maybe they cut them too far, and the calipers are now fully extended when trying to stop the car, but cant make enough contact with the thinner rotor..
i'm not a fan of turning rotors.. for how cheap they are now, there really isnt a reason not to replace them rather than turn them..

:edit: chickenviii has faster fingers than me..

yup techs gotta type fast here

with good pedal (not too hard or too soft) then I agee it could very well be the rotors are out of spec. and need replacement.

The dorks at Autozone quoted me $32. I am sure these are cheap crap and will warp in the sun, not to mention braking time.

They asked witrh our with out ABS and FWD or RWD- not sure any Mark came with out ABS and none are FWD...sigh...

Best to pay extra and get Lincoln parts or performance (drilled.slotted) type. Brakes are nothing to go cheap on!

I AGREE

I Agree Too, Go To Your Dealer And Get Lincoln Parts..or Motorcraft
I Avoid Going To Petboys,or Autozone..they Deal With Every Car Under The Sun...for Major Parts Such As Brakes For Instance..thats Nothing To Go Cheep On.

Just don't go with diskbrakesareus.

I bought their 13" dual caliper and cobra rotors, and the regular lincoln sized rotors with calipers.

I paid extra to make sure the rear lincoln rotors were drilled for a mustang 5x4.5 bolt pattern. They also sold me on the powdercoating, which was supposed to be done on the hub part.

Right. The rears came drilled for the lincoln bolt pattern. So I had a local machine shop drill them for the correct bolt pattern. Something I paid diskbrakesareus extra IIRC, to not have 10 holes in the rotor. Furthermore, they powdercoated the ENTIRE rotor, including brake pad contact area. I had to get them turned enough to remove the powdercoating.

The front ones are powdercoated as well, sans a narrow strip. Even those I think I'll have to have turned.

The rotors are supposedly made in America. Horse, they are made in Canada. At least the front rotors, never looked at the rears.

Moral of the story.

DiskBrakesAreUs = Either dishonest or imcompetent people.

Thank you for posting that. I was seriously considering ordering brakes from them over the summer, but after hearing your review there is nothing for me to consider anymore, at least from them.
