I tried out for the drill team in military school. I chipped my instructors tooth during the tryout. Needless to say, I didn't make the team.

Those guys are amazing.

I must admit that I am working on 10+ in marriage and 14 years since meeting my wife. 4 boys later vindicates our marriage.

However, my sense is that your distain for Bush has clouded the very vision of the excellence that can be achieved thru military involvement and the precision that the training requires. The bar is set quite high in military school and not all can pass under. That is not only understandable, but self-explanatory. Personally, I know I would have benefitted from a military experience. Humbleness can grow from the right seeds. I missed the chance. However, I hope to someday get the chance to serve.

Should you have served and lost buddies or family members in combat, then you know where these comments come from. Speaking of interviews, many a soldier has commented that war itself is ugly and wasteful. Proud to do thier part in achieveing Victory for their country in hopes that their blood and pain was not in vain.
Should you have the opputunity to ask a Solidier that is currently serving or has served, if the love or hate war, chances are they will say the same thing the many Veterans I have talked to.
It is the soldier who is asked to go into harms way to defend ideals and livelyhood of a people or nation. No one else. Amazing how Political leaders always seem to fail with Diplomacy and rely on Military strenghts to make up for what the lack in ability to "Peacebly" settle issues.
Speaking for myself, I have great appreciation for those who have served or died in battle. Whether it be anyone of my family who had been there, to a person whom I have yet to meet, that defended all of our rights to be what we choose, achieve what we choose, say what we choose, when we choose to do it.

I can tell you that the standards set for our Silent drill team are exceptionally high. As far as throwing poliics in our arena, that is not the thing to do. Whether or not we agree with the president, or any decisions made for us is neither here, nor there. We simply serve for many different reasons, almost none of which are to support one president or the other. I signed up under the Clinton administration, and I'm serving now under Bush. It's not their choices that we question, it's the support or lack thereof that our fellow "Citizens" show that matter. And, because I just came back from Fallujah 3 weeks ago, my opinion is that we still have a job to do there, regardless of the predication that put us there.

The media makes this war out to be a hell of alot worse than it actually is.

Thanks for the support, it really did help alot while I was out there. I can count on the members of LVC to put aside their political views to send support. It really meant alot.
