Changed My OIL

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: MarkOfDeath

This time I used Castrol Cold Start protection and I had to buy a K&N oil filter since motorcraft was out, However the castrol and k&n got rid of my loud timing chains for the first 2-3 seconds when I start my car. I might end up buying the K&N from now on

Brad, you coming to the meet in July at Rich's place?

Posted by: MarkOfDeath

ummm, Oh ya I forgot to mention I also Chipped a tooth on my 4.10 pinion, Its on the outer edge and I cleaned it up but Im going have to rebuild soon, I might go but chances are looking slim, also Im dropping the whole rear suspension so I can clean prep and paint evertything, I plan on undercoating the whole car

I use Castrol startup oil, it "seems" to have quieted things.

Hmm i use 5w 30 mobile one and the k&n and i still get the noise at start up. Must be the oil.

FWIW I've used Castrol 5W-30 SynBlend with either MotorCraft or a K&N Gold filter since I've had the '93.

Driller can you hear the chain tensioners on cold startup on your 93?

Is that cold start protection product an oil or an additive or what?

Sounds wonderful!

Can't say I do. I park in a small garage. If it's there, it should be prominent. But I admit my hearing isn't what it used to be. I've heard it on others, so I can hear it, but I don't notice it on my '93.
