3.73 gears?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi,

I install new 3.73 rear end a year or so ago, since then the car has not been on any long trips, anyone would know if I drove the car on a 1000 mile trip straight thru would it be hard on it?

Rick

Brent (brentalan) drove his Mark VIII from NJ to Chicago for the BBQ. I know he has 3.73 gears in his. So that would qualify for a 1000 mile drive.

Do you still have your old rear end? Is it a Trac Loc?

Rick
Not a problem WE have overdrive....

old rear end was sold sorry

are you asking if its going to be hard on the car to drive 1000 miles with 3.73's?
no, it will be fine. you will pull a few more RPMS than stock for a longer time, but nothing to worry about. go for it! you will love passing people with them though

everyone, thanks for the info!

You will have no problems what so ever. I have them and only turn about 2600 Rpm @73 MPH

3.73 @ 80 on Stock height tires.

I drove my car to Indy and back last July over 1400 miles round trip, no problems.
