Vibration

I have noticed that my 98 towncar makes a strange vibration when I pass 45-55 MPH. I have noticed this on every Ford Vehicle I've driven. What is this? Can it be fixed?

I think it has something to do with the transmission shifting in an out of Over Drive. Not sure. but driving up a hill at 40 is hell.

Some of the Mark VIII tranys get the shudders when they are close to a failure. Sounds like what you are discribing
