2007 Lincoln Aviator

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

For starters, it's no longer called the Aviator, but rather the MKX. Is that supposed to be the Mk X, like Mark 10? or MKX?

Interior- looks a lot like the Zephyr.

Look at the Ford Edge for reference (which, IMO, looks much better).

Crazy sounds system:

The THX II Certified audio system in the 2007 Lincoln MKX offers the following:

14 speakers
600 watts of amplification
12 channels of digital signal processing power providing:
Individual speaker EQ
Three optimized seating position modes (Driver, Front Seat, All Seats)
THX-patented Configurable Speaker Array (CSA) processing
Surround processing of stereo CDs

What's wrong with the waterfall grille (which looks classy and refined)? The new crosshatch grille looks ugly!

The car in the picture is Ford, I think the Lincoln will have a waterfall grille.

I know it's a Ford Edge- the 3 bar chrome grille is nice. But the new Lincoln SUVs will have a new cross-hatch grille, that looks like enlarged wire mesh. The 2007 navigator gets it too.

IMO, the new Buick Enclave looks pretty nice too, AND it has a nicer 270 hp 3.6L engine. The faux wood can go though (oh, they say it's real burl wood). And it has a waterfall grille.

21 inch tires too.

The Buick looks VERY pimp.

Very long too, about 202", which is about Explorer length. not bad for a car based SUV. I'd love to get those 21s....

And the Lincoln MKX will be unveiled tomorrow....

The Buick looks much better, inside and out

Didn't they say that Lincoln would be competing against Buick in the future?

Posted by: 04LSSport

I never thought the day would come where I liked a GM product better than a Ford, but the Buick looks much better. The interior of the Edge looks boring.

Posted by: 03Aviator

The Buick looks just like a VW Toureg from the back, yuck IMO. Otherwise, it looks much nicer than the Aviator "replacement".

I'm glad they are not carrying the Aviator name over to that V6 minivan like vehicle.

Also, IMO big mistake for Lincoln to do away with the waterfall grille... Mercury should have the "crosshatch".

New Lincoln MKX pics are up! Interioir looks clean and nice- the crosshatch grille isn't as bad as I thought!

Kinda retro look in the front. Side profile looks very stubby, in a bad way. Back end sort of reminds me of the Buick Rendezvous.

I'm sure it'll be nice if thats the type of vehicle you're looking for.

I would take the Buick Enclave over the MKX without blinking. The 3.6L Caddy engine owns the Ford 3.5L

Posted by: captainalias

The problem is that it looks too much like the Edge with just a few cosmetic differences. It needs its own, bigger engine, and unique Lincoln features. The Highlander and RX330 do not look the same at all. Why do both the Edge AND the MKX get the Vista roof?

actual shot of Enclave's interior:

all that wood trim in that buick looks like they just threw it all over the place, not giving a care where to place them. Benzo and BM Lexus and Lincoln at least know where to put them!

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll tone it down for the production version...

It has some nice features like the panoramic vista roof - but all in all, I think it's ugly.

Honda sues Ford over MKX name. Hyundai ought to sue Honda... Or Lincoln should sue Lexus for naming their car the LS-460....

I like the Buick and Lincoln cross-overs about the same. I agree the mesh grill doesn't look good, a waterfall would look better. The Edge looks OK, but honestly this is a segment that I never really cared for in the first place. A bunch of SUVs based on elevated car chassis, ehh you can keep it. Look at the Nissan from the side it looks like a Gremlin! The MXS sedan on the other hand is gorgeous if it were on a descent chassis I'd love it!

Oh and the Buick much better than the Renezvous it replaces. Also why can't Ford make this in addition to the Aviator, instead of ditching the Aviator all together.

Mos def. The current Rendezvous is a real POS.

More pictures- the MKX is definitely much more pleasing to the eye than the new Navi.

Wow. Is that a gorgeous front end or what? And that panaromic roof? I was planning on going with the Ford Edge, which of course is the same car, but I think I really might have to consider the MKX now that I have seen it in person. Not to mention I want those air-conditioned seats! (imagine that on a hot summer's day!). This site is saying the MKX will be priced @ $35k. Seems pretty reasonable, although it is about $10k over the Edge. Not sure I can justify that to my wife!

It is nice, and the interior looks great!

The engine hp numbers have been revised from 250 to 265 hp. Panoramic roof indeed.

In reading about the MKXin the www.media.ford.com site it does not mention at all about the availibility of High Intensity Discharge headlamp either in the standard equipment or in the optinal equipment list. I hope that they will be available on this vehicle. I do not understand while Lincoln does not just make them standard across the line. This is afterall the luxury division of Ford. Only one vehicle in the whole company has HID lights as standard and that is on the Mercury Montego. I just do not understand Ford's marketing or selling strategy. And they wonder why Lincoln sales are suffering. Here you have their flagship sedan at Lincoln, the Town Car that doesn not have HID standard, no availability of puddle lights or fog lamps or even REAL wood in the interior. Their entry level sedan the Zephyr has the puddle lamps and the fog lamps as standard equipment yet their flagship sedan they are not even available. Some one better view the equipment list on these vehicles and make some serious adjustments. One of those better be the availability of HID headlamps on the MKX. In these days a luxury brand offering their vehicles without the availability of the best lighting system is unthinkable.

I'm not sure if I'm digging the overall grille design that Lincoln is going with. It's just too busy for me. I love my '04 Nav and thanks to that new '07 design I'm really loving it now. By the way I'm new and my name is Steve. I've got an '04 black Nav Ultimate with the monochrome paint. I also have an '05 Dodge Ram SRT-10. I used have an '04 F-150 but I just love that Viper motor.
