Hey dave,

The gen 1 intakes have vacumn actuated IMRC plates. Only the 97-98 marks recieved electrically operated units.

I have a 1996 mark viii green diamond addition that has intec v8 with a vac pot that has two electric wires under a black cap that goes inside the vac pot on each side so i believe 96 is in there with the 97 and 98 but still has old style intake i could take a pic sometime and show if nessasary thanks dave

Nope, All gen1 IMRC's are vacumn opperated. There is a solenoid that controls the vacumn going to the IMRC's on the back drivers side cam cover. (This has been highlighted in the top picture)

Here are a couple of pictures of two of my projects....

The GEN 1 picture, shows how the imrcs are shaped to allow a transition from the tubular manifold to the ports on the head. (ignore the lack of plates, I have them deleted for a project i'm working on. This is just for reference.)

The gen 2 plates are shaped differently to accept the new style manifold. (these plates are interchangable between the 96-98 Cobra also.) 98 Marks and cobras got a change from aluminum construction to composite. In theroy, this allows less heat transfer to the manifold which helps power. The composites actually have larger ports than the aluminum units.

Hope this helps....

Mike

my vacume pot has 2 wires comeing right out of the top and also has the solinoid over on drivers side thanks dave

Well, I'm gonna have to see a picture of what your talking about. The gen2 imrcs are cable actuated by a motor that is mounted on the bottom of the intake down in the block valley.

I'm not sure what vacumn "POT" your referring to.

well dont have a digital camera with me as iam in calif at this time but these are connected to the intake runners on each side of intake in rear they do have vac lines on each and and two wires comeing out of top

The 2 wires you speak of are most probably the position feedback sensors that goes to the pcm.

Posted by: 1996mark8green

yes i do know that is what they do so that is why iam looking for this correct year 95 94 and 93 didnt have them thanks dave

Your right Dave. I have a 96 also. The actuators do have input output wires to the pcm. Are you having a problem with the diaphragms?

Mike

the gen2 IMRC box is located behind the drivers side head. the Cobra IMRC box mounts to the underside of the intake.

1996mark8green, i see your fron Hopkins, would that be Hopkins, MN?
