Need Help with my Heating

Can anyone thow me some ideas as to why my 98 mark VIII is not blowing any heat... nothing will come out of the vents. tried defrost nothing works
sometimes it will come on when the car is first started but shuts off if l turn it down. Then l can't get it to start again???
