Maybe you guys can help me..... I have a laptop, and whenever I try to play a DVD it acts like it is skipping. I looked at my Windows Task Manager when I tried playing the DVD, and the CPU usage spikes up to over 80%.. Any ideas???

Thanks
-Brian

I know that when that happened to me it was as simple as setting the battery settings back to MAX PERFORMANCE instead of Battery Saver...

Try that first. KISS principle should apply

Still no dice...

Generally speaking, when this occurs you are out of memory space to keep the read ahead buffer filled. Video files are large and need as much buffer space as possible to run smoothly. You could try to adjust your virtual memory settings so that they are static. Rule of thumb is that the Virtual memory should be set at 2 1/2 times the physical ram and both the lower limit and the upper limit should be the same. Hope this helps.

Thanks bufordt, my comp is running waaay better. BUT, i'm still having problems with the drive. When I play audio or video files from the comp, it works fine. But when I try to play something through the drive, it acts like its skipping. I'm thinking the problem might be the drive itself
