Abnormally high Coolant temp?

I was crusin along, and i come to a light...and i notice after sitting for about a min, the coolant temp gauge is at the bottom of N, and i started to freek out...but it went down to where it normally is (bottom of A) as soon as i started driving, and never freeked out again.

The only thing i can think of is my fans didnt turn on when i stopped that one time? Is that possible? I can remember one time back about a year and a half ago when i was travelin to dc, and i got off 95, that it did the same thing.
Any thoughts?

There's nothing wrong with your cooling system.

I had the same thing happen to me this last summer, and I had a mech check it out for me - no issues with air bubbles, fluid, leaks, thermostats, nothing. Then I figured it out.

The needle is loose and it fluctuates up and down. That's it. Watch it and you'll see.

no no, its not a common thing, that was the second time, and only second time its ever happened.

There is no way in hell that the needle is loose, I can guarantee it because I have taken apart over 20 of them when installing our white face gauge kits and they have to be removed with a dinner fork.
