The last time I ran at the track I had a bad 1-2 accumulator piston (it slipped badly), the OD delete button did not work and it was a bit warmer out. That day I ran a 15.04 at 94.79 and I knew that the car had a lot more in it. I went to Cecil county today and went straight to the line with a fully heated engine and a trunk full of junk. I loaded the cnoverter to about 1500 rpm's and peddled slowly out of the hole. I knew by the lack of spin and the top end charge that the car had more in it, and I crossed the traps with a 15.00 at 96.52 with a horrible 60 foot time of 2.47. Temp on that run was right around 40 degrees. I let the car cool down and got the junk out of the trunk, but unfortunately a rash of cars blowing up happened. First a turbo neon decided to leave a rod and part of his crank on the track. That took 2 full hours to clean up. The next car was a Camaro that blew a tranny in the same lane, he had to be towed and another 25 minutes went off the clock. In all a total of at least 7 vehicles decided that they did not want to run anymore, and before my second and last run (this cost me $35) a 69 Vette dropped a rod at the starting line. I got to go back in the left lane and run alone. The temp by now had gone up to near 50 degrees, and unfortunately the car was starting to heat up again with me turning it off and on so much, the needle was at "L". I stalled the converter back to 1500 rpm and let her rip, I floored it a bit faster out of the hole this time and the car responded like a champ. I knew that this was going to be a good run letting the car shift for itself, but I was floored when I got the slip:

60 ft: 2.25
330 6.304
1/8th 9.559
MPH 75.79
1000 12.331
1/4 14.651
MPH 97.21

The thing is I know that the car has more in it. If I can get there on a day with temps in the 30's and get her ice cold I am betting I can go 14.40's with a trap of 98.5-99 stock. I will find out soon, I want the 14.40's stock before the end of December.

Not bad for a 130,000 mile stock 94 with a 310 pound driver. I think that Rich will be happy that his old car is performing so well.

OMG 14.60's? TOTALLY STOCK? NO WAY! Are you sure? LMAO! Thats just some razzin for the nat sayers (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE)

Yet another dead STOCK Mark VIII in the mid 14's, very nice!
But remeber it is impossible and cannot be done.

very very sweet! Gotta love factory freeks.

Posted by: mespock

Oh and remember that's the 94 that I sold to Scott!

Why to do Scott.....

Nice time... your car was pulling really hard on the top end. You gained 21.5mph from the 1/8th to the 1/4. Most Mark VIII's, even modded ones would be happy with a 20mph gain. Very impressive...

I believe you. I am just joking around because so MANY people will swear up and down that it is impossible.

That's just for the nay sayers, not you. I am just too lazy to look up the smiles since the clickables are not there anymore. Has anyone done 14.50's? My goal is 14.40's if they put down enough VHT.

awesome time scott, congrats!

Posted by: scott9050

I just plugged in the numbers and the altitude correction is still 256 feet above sea level. I want to get a day where I have negative numbers.

Posted by: scott9050

Bump.

Posted by: MarkVIII93

Man! Nice times! I would be happy with a 14.9 on my mildly modded mark.

Bring it to an east coast track, Michigan tracks suck (at least in the western part of the state).

Posted by: MarkVIII93

The only track I have ever gone to is Milan Dragway in Milan Michigan. Ive never ran my car though. Im waiting till spring when I have some more stuff done to the car.

Last time I did I only ran a mid 15, I ran .4 better loading it up a bit.

Posted by: ONEBADMK8

Loading the stock converter or "stalling" it up will poduce way slower results.

I agree, unless your car has drag radials or slicks launch from idle...

Posted by: scott9050

Again, it managed to produce a 14.65 at 97.21 with my method. I take MM&FF with a grain of salt, in that same article they suggest letting the engine get hot for better times, and that article is about a SOHC T-Bird.

With the amount of VHT they were using, if I had been more aggressive the times would have dropped further, there was no hint of wheelspin. I have run on tracks in Michigan and North Carolina, never seen one hook as good as this one. This is one reason I invited Andy down, I think he will hook better and run quite a bit faster.

AMEN TO THAT BRO!

I have never been in a modified or even stock Mark VIII, which won't spin the tires when launched at stall speed.

Just wait until they only prep one lane for the cars running slicks, and put the street-tired cars like yours in the other lane. Happened to me last time I went.

T-Bird yes but SAME trans as the Marks. 2 Cammers like some heat in my experiences and less heat makes the 4 cammers fly.

Same tranny but vastly different torque and power curves. You know as well as I that the SOHC non PI engines were crap up top, and I can see them losing ET trying to stall the converter with that non breathing POS engine.
