Funny you should mention hunger.....

I don't drive now, but at my old job I used to drive these machines in a -30 frozen food warehouse. One type is a "Narrow-Isle" machine that can lift 4000 lbs pallets 44 feet above the floor surface. This machine weighs over 14,000 Pounds, and can move at a top speed of 20 MPH. (you do the math, for energy potential.) The battery weighs 3500 pounds, and holds almost 100 gallons of acid.

The bigger machine is a "Very Narrow-Isle truck". This machine is locked in line, and moves back and forth down an isle and moves up and down to pull, and stock pallets. This monster weighs 25K, and uses 2 of the same size batteries the 1st kind uses.

You would NOT believe how manuverable the 1st truck is. You can turn a complete 360, with in a circle 6" bigger than the overall deminsion of the truck. Infact, that 7 ton bohemoth can manuver better than any sports car out there. Needless to say, it takes alot of training, and certification to run these machines, and ALOT of things could be meesed up if they got out of control.

I quit there because I was tired of running 20 MPH in a freezer, doing nothing but moving a control stick. It gets too damned cold. I used to have pictures of me running them at work, but seem to have lost them somewhere. So I had to use footage from thier respective websites.

Mike
I fix those now, just started my new job last week, they are pretty fun to drive and I know how to set the speed to make the even funner. here is a link to my old work car and i will post a pic of my new work van later. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2182616/2

Posted by: mespock

I don't want to brag but this is what I get to drive at work.

Posted by: pepperman

Posted by: MonsterMark

I'm hurt.. Bryan that's it no more broke back mountain moment for you..

Posted by: chickenviii

heres some of the things i get to drive, but dont get mad, i drive some pieces of crap too
p.s. the cop cars are fun!!!!! and i couldnt resist a mr2 shot for rich lol

Posted by: Frat-man-du

Cool!

I heard a few years ago when the Cobra 'R' were delviered they came on a roll back and were put directly on a lift till the owner took delviery. Just so Wrenches and Sales couldnt take 'em for a spin.

Posted by: cavemansmarkviii

When I was still turning wrenches for a living and worked on the local state patrol cars. One time I decided to go though town with lights and siren, and got caught, that was bad.

Posted by: chickenviii

yea the lights are bad dont turn them on, thats impersonating an offier, but you CAN whip a u turn and fly up on the bumper of some ricer punk that flew by you.
frat, thats how we got our GT (40) the transport driver unloaded in the street and drove it into the showroom and handed the owner only the keys and left, but i got to start is cuz while it sat in the showroom the battery died and i got to replace it, so after i was done i had to make sure it worked, right, so i got to start it and rev it a couple times sweeeeeet!!!
and the shelby get delivered on a normal car hauler with foci and escapes etc.

Posted by: ekenkade

i worked out a deal with my compay that i would fly their cargo to various places on the east coast and midwest. this is a semo pic of my plane and one of the plane that i may get from my dead grandmother.
there is a Douglas DC-3 and a Lockheed L1011 Tristar

Posted by: pepperman

Pick up Pepperman on the way.

Don't have pics, but hit the interstate and if you see a white '96 Freightliner Columbia Series blow your doors off, that's me!!

Posted by: devilchild

Posted by: torquemonkey

While these are not the "actual" Gen sets on-site, they are of the same variety. V-16 diesel CATS, 2500+ horsepower, 4160 VAC...Arr, arr, arr.

Posted by: pepperman

Very Cool, i have seen some of those they use them on some of the drilling rigs around here, thanks Torque.

Posted by: torquemonkey

No problem, its quite an experience to be in the Gen Plant when they are running under full load . WOW. The vibration and feeling of power is amazing.
I can be "driving" those, a couple of different forklifts or a scizzor lift.
I alomost forgot, the John Deer "gator" or the "golf cart".
