hello all,
just bought a '91 mark vii lsc/se and am having a little problem with the brakes- it doesn't have any power brakes, i have to really have to push on the pedal to get it stopped. the thing is this morning me and my buddy went to take it up to get plates and after sitting for about 4 days, i took of and the the brakes were working just fine, just like they should. that lasted for about 10 minutes and then it went back to having to push real hard to get the car stopped. from what i have been reading, the accumulator, pressure switch and relay are common problems, but i just wanted to throw it out there and see if anybody had and ideas on what it might be. Thanks to all that checked out this thread. BTW future plans for the mark include a turbonetics T-76 turbo that i have already bought, but got get the brakes squared away first. Thanks again, Jesse

BTW, neither the brake light or the abs light has come on the whole time, but both lights do work when i turn the key on

Run the brake system self-diagnostic procedure, and also reference this: http://www.lincolnsonline.com/article21.html

What he said. ^^^^^^^ Proper diagnosis (and investing some time) will keep you from guessing and wasting money.

Let us know what you find and post here.

sorry i am taking so long to get back with you, im only home on the weekends, anyway- i am not sure how to do the brake system self-diagnostic procedure, and if it has to do with the tripminder computer, mine doesn't work. Please let me know, Thanks to all- Jesse

Run to Wal-Mart or a local auto parts store and spend $25-$30 on a code scanner. Get into your trunk, get the pigtail from the ABS computer which is mounted behind the rear seat and follow the procedure in your code scanner manual. The manual will also help you decode what the scanner will tell you. Also, be sure to reference the link provided prior.
