Mark VIII Differentials

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm just wondering if mark viii's come with posi differentials or just standard diffs...any comments?

MarkVIII Differentials are "open" units. even the LSCs.

no pos rear end.....

Posted by: Frogman

Mine came with a locker... out of my mechanic's garage, that is. :P

But yes, the Mark VIII gurus are correct. It's an open Diff.

Posted by: mrlandyacht

pardon my ignorance, but if I were to brake-torque with an "open" diff, it would be only the right tire burning, right?
-thanks again for your input guys

Posted by: 94m5

not nessisarily.....

It depends most of the time as to which tire has the least load on it. You CAN get an open diff to spin both if your good enough.

no...an open differential is like what your thinking. You can still spin duals with an open diferential if the conditions are right for it.

oh, I'm also curious what the stock rear end is on those mark VIII's....3.27? 3.08? 3.55?

3.08's in the base mark....and 3.27's in the LSC's

Posted by: Psychostang

Interesting, my service manual has the base diff. listed as a 3.07

Posted by: ONEBADMK8

It is 3:07 and 3:27's for the LSC.

cool!
-thanks guys

just a posi alone is an awsome mod, then add 4.10s and a stall, you can drift around any corner and fishtail 100+feet
