Humming Noise When Starting?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Griff

I have a 2002 Lincoln LS V8 Sport, and now that it's starting to get cold overnight in the Boston area my car makes a humming noise when first warming up in the morning. I bought the car in July, and it was fine in the warm weather. It sounds like maybe the fan belt, but once it's warmed up it's fine. Is this normal for the cold weather with this car? Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks

is it your hydraulic fan?

i am having the same experience that you are. i bought my 02 at the same time, and i am getting that same humm, that goes away. i thought that is could be the ps pump. the fan also makes sense. luckly, i still have a little warranty.

any body else experience this?

could be the muffler bearings or headlight fluid?

My 04 does the same when cold. My thought was the power steering pump.
