Relay or tranny replacement?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: 1986_MarkVII

Car:

1986 Cadillac Fleetwood Coupe DeVille (love rubbing that in )

V8 4.1 liter

Background:

I acquired a well-maintained caddy two years ago.

The car had a rebuilt transmission installed by an independent shop. Unknown if it is an OEM tranny and parts. This was done by the previous owner, so, I do not have the paperwork.

Symptom:

Depending on throttle position, car has a lagging two-three shift.

Question:

1. Do these model Cadillacs have an electrical relay that could be the culprit of the condition?

2. Are there sollutions that do not involve overhaul of the transmission?
