Do deville engines typically run hot?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: 01deville

I've had an '01 deville for a few years now and my engine gets so hot I can feel ALOT of heat coming through the air vents after driving for about an hour. My temp on my dash shows the car is not overheating. Someone told me that it is typical with late model devilles to run hot. Is that true?? If not what can be the cause.

Also does a hot engine enhance pinging? I've tried to research but cant find anything to states if it does or not.

Thanks

if it's like mine it usually runs about 200 degrees.

Hi.Just joined today, and bought my Deville about a week ago. We took it on a two hour drive and the hottest it got was 217. Only thing I can find in manual says 248 is too hot. I'm also trying to figure out what the norm is, but assuming all's well.
