Howdy again to all. Real quest...motor swap?

Ok, so the 5.4 is a mod motor like the 4.6...is it "that" hard to swap one in. I think it would be nice to have a supercharged lightnin' motor in there or somthing like that. Just wonderin'

I've seen 5.4's done in several vehicles. Lightning SC won't work because it's way too tall; you'll need to hem it down. That takes some serious skills. I know a guy doing it on his 95 Crown Vic- but again, he has the skills. Another guy I know on TCCoA just finished his 5.4 DOHC swap in his MN-12. It's one TIGHT squeeze and took some fabrication to complete.

With the right heads and intake, you should see some serious gains. But don't forget your wallet; a 5.4 DOHC swap is not an economical way to boost performance.

Just curious, what is diffrent about the 5.4 DOHC compared to the 4.6 DOHC? Just curious what is exactly diffrent...How do they make it a 4.6 (281) to a 5.4(330) is it bored? stroked? Size diffrences etc...Anything will be helpful!!!

Windsor cast iron, taller deck, longer stroke (3.55 x 4.17) The 5.4 DOHC heads are similar in design, but slightly bigger- so if you tried swapping them into a car, you will have clearance issues. You can reuse passenger car DOHC heads with minimal clearance issues, as most passenger DOHC swaps go. I wouldn't' recommend B-heads, though. They'd probably chock the motor...
