Hey Guy's couple questions and you all seem to know the most about marks and pro's and con's I have a 93 my dad bought brand new and passed down to me and now im trying to make it nice again its a little beat up anyways it has 184k miles on it and the engine started knocking. My first guess is its time for a rebuild. Ive researched for a week on engine and what to do. I would like to add a few horses into the engine while im at it with out over doing it. and long blocks seem to be around 3500. I can build it myself but im scared because of the cams and stuff are so touchy ive built 350's and eveything but this is different. I thought about having some bigger cams different pistons and a port and polish done what can you recomend for me...

Thanks Guys This is the Best Place ever

hey man, Modulars are a completely different class compared to your older generations. As such your gonna pay alot more for the same ammount of power. A cam set for the 32V 4.6, is around 1200, and a decent P&P will run you about the same. Your running about average for a decent short block, but it can be done cheaper.

I would say, if your just worried about having a little extra HP, I would buy a decent salvaged engine with low(er) miles, throw a 100 shot, or a ~7-8 PSI vortech snail on it, and call it done. You can buy the SC equipment for the same ammount you would spend on just the head work alone, and get more out of it.

Just my $.02

how hard is it to put a 97 motor in a 93

Posted by: 94m5

It's not, you just have to change the injection system, ignition, intake, and cam covers.

Raelly it's not as hard as some people make it out to be. Just swap over everything off of the old engine.

TO ANYONE THAT'S INTERESTED!!!

I have a '93 Mark VIII parked outside my house with front end damage, but it only has 52,000 miles on it!! I'm looking to sell it right away! Email me for pics.

Car still drives, but is not road legal.
