Wondering What The Proper Fluid Is For A Mark Vii With Abs Brakes

Is Synthetic Not Good.....the Only Dot 4 I Can Find Is Synthetic

Not sure, but I don't see how this can hurt anything.
Even synthetic motor oil and trans fluid are considered better, so go figure.

I need to flush my own brake system, soon. If anyone knows for certain, I'd love to hear...

Ask five people and you'll get five different answers.

I use Super-X Super Heavy Duty Brake Fluid in all of my Mark VIIs. It's a DOT 3 fluid so it has a higher initial boiling point and resists water absorption better than the DOT 4s.

If you're not on a budget, as FORD/LINCOLN/MERCURY for a discount on a 5 gallon drum of the OEM stuff. That's the best for our cars IMO.

After i posted the question about synthetic i called the dealer...

they said dot 3 non-synthetic for sure also

Glad you and the dealer agrees..... dont know if they are always right

i have been told by sevrall ppl that not to yous synthetic in breaks couse its harder to flush it out and can clog the break lings up that what i have heard just saying what iv been told guy

Do not under any circumstances mix synthetic and regular brake fluid.

It has been known that your hoses SWELL UP and can blow.

DO NOT MIX THE TWO

To put synthetic into your sytem you either have to flush AND vacuum the WHOLE system (still wouldnt trust it)

or replace all your rubber lines

just use regular brake fluid, 95% of the vehicles out there use it.

yep, avoid synthetic, actually, independent studies have confirmed that ford brand dot 3 has better boiling point and performance than some dot4's.. i believe it's like 475 degrees.. as soon as it starts to turn green or brown flush it!! your abs will thank you..
