Thinking about buying '77 Town Car. Parts available?

Hi,

I have had my eye on a '77 Lincoln Continental Town Car that has been sitting at a used car dealership for quite some time. It's in good condition overall considering the age. It does have a bit of surface rust in a few places, but not bad. I am amazed at how well the leather has held up. The biggest issue seems to be the rear bumper. It has rusted through in one area and seems to be loose. My question is...are parts readily available for these cars? I have no doubt engine parts are easily obtainable, but I'm referring to restoration-type parts. I don't know the price yet, but they should be willing to deal since it has sat there for at least 6 months. What would be a fair price. From what I have seen, the interior is in good shape, but the car probably needs to be re-painted. I have no idea about mileage, but assume it's around 100,000. I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

Thanks,
Bret

I have a 1977 Lincoln Town Car Williamsburg Edition with only 61,xxx miles on it in excellent condition.I will be posting pics soon or send them to you. This is all original even the tires are dated in 1979 so Im thinking 2nd set. Let me know what they are asking because Im probably going to let my go for a good price to make room for another project

I just sold a '78 (it had rare cloth seats - perfect shape). The only issue I found over the years was the carb and smog pump parts were getting harder and harder to locate. I have a couple of older cars an the TC is no differnt it just takes a little time, epeically when dealing with the younger employees at autoparts stores who cant fathom there were cars made before they were born.
In 2000 I got an orginal 1978 Cartier clock from my local Lincoln dealer for $70. It was in their display case for who knows how long. Good luck.
