Mark VII off the Line ?

Ok, not that I have a few hundred miles

on my Mark VII. A few questions from the more

experienced Mark VII driviers.

Remember I am still a new Mark driver.

How responsive should I expect my '85 Mark VII off the line? It seems to start up slow.

Top end It has plenty of power not like my Mark VIII but she will get up and go. But it doesn't respond as quickly.

What should I be expecting as to off the line power, and on the fly acceleration?

Also as the speed only goes to 85 mph. What top end on these?

I don't plan on driving this car hard as I want to make it last!

but it's nice to know what to expect. Know her limits.

180hp and its carb! I drove the sh it out of my 84'. I thinkit likes the pedal down! My 84' also only had 140hp. I think at highway speeds and you drop the pedal. You should think your pretty fast. At least mine let me know from 45mph to 65mph. It excels very good!

Okay, you don't think its good off the line. Well, a 4k pound car with only 180hp is not a whole lot to get off the line with. Thats why when I rebuild my 84' tranny. Im going to add a torque converter. Something like 2400 or so. So, it will be better off the line. I love it as a highway car. But I just want a little more get up and go from 0mph!

I like driving the VII more than the VIII but I do like the VIII for fun and thrills.

Wife doesn't let me drive the VIII as much now. Doesn't bother me as I love

: VII.

Before I got 4.10sin the VIII, my '91 LSC would beat my '93 Mark VIII off the line. The VII would leave two nice black stripes for a short distance, while the VIII would have one wheel smoke-outs. But once the VIII hooked and got up out of the hole the VII was owned, even though it has highway speed as well.

My '87, stock, was a DOG off the line (3.27 TL). Put in a set of 4.10s and it got better - for a little while. Then when I put the 5 speed in, it was NUTS. First gear is a joke now.

I never thought Sifrino was a dog off the line, stock. But we are also talking about older VII here. But I also thought my 84' was pretty good. It just needed a little bit of help. But I still thought it got off the line "well." If your explaing that your car is doging it. It means its taking a sh it on its tong. As long as you car is stedy in the excel. Which means it doesn't bog down. Then I wouldn't be worried. . .

You are moving a 2ton vehicle with a 140hp engine. That's half of the ponies you have in the VIII. Getting off the line you're not going to be hauling that quick. The engine should still wake up after 2500rpm or so. Just don't go cutting into traffic and you'll be happy!

With my '90 LSC that I had (auto with 3.27 rearend) I ran it up to 120 mph once and it was taching around 3500 RPMS.
