As several people stated in the thread that this thread is about, we just can't vote for a brand new production car. I understand this is not a classic contest BUT anyone can go buy a new car and post a pic. With no mods it's just a new car.

Let's say two people post there new CST-V, one is black and one is silver, because those are the only two colors they come in. Now the contest is about who likes what color and NOT about the car. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to own one but it's just a new car.

Now on the other side of that coin a very stock clean car that's 15 or 20 years old is something to post, even without mods. I think something like that show the timeless integrity of a vehicle.

What about a new car that has a bunch of mods! Here me out! In this day and age if you turn on the T.V there are lot more shows that are emphasizing brand new cars with tons of mods. The whole classics scene has come and gone. That does not mean that classics are not nice but it depends on the individual person. This board seems to be filled woth more classic lovers then modern dubbed out pimp rides. It all depends. It is all about the era we are in. I think for the future contests we should divide classics and new age in order to have a true battle of the rides.

My $.02

Absolutely, I said that today. It's not that we like the classics over the new cars, they're just two different cars, and to compare them is unfair. A new Car moded and pimped out is great. I'm all for that, but a lot of what we saw here wasn't, it was just a new car with some tint or something.

Either way I agree. They should be two separate categories.

Thanks.It was a lot of hard work but it paid off.Damn near everything on the car was done by myself or friends.About the only things I didnt do was building the tranny and porting the heads.

what the hell is the deal with this contest? seems that the latest post are nothin' but complaints. or we should have a classic and new category. how simple minded. so what if you can go out and buy the new stuff and add a system, scenes, and 20 and up inch tires. what we wont is for you to show your best and run with it. hell if thats the case then i shoulda bitched when my car lost to a plain mark VIII that had no votes hardly for like 3 to 4 days then all of a sudden came from nowhere to win. was it due to thye simple fact that the VIII had a few votes stashed away or is that geno doesnt have anything for the mark VII crowd so it would have been pointless for a VII to win. oh well anywho get off the high horse there and just enjoy these contest and forums for what they are and thats pure entertainment and leave it at that.

People that know me know that I have a really thick skin, but come on, we are trying really hard to build a site that EVERYBODY can come and enjoy. Sure, the admins pic the finalists, but it is the members that VOTE the winners. I didn't vote in the Lincoln contest, and I won't in the caddie contest, either, unless it is a tie. Trust me, Geno has zero say in who wins. Only the people here do. And if the Mark VII community comes together and agrees on important mods for the VII's, there is no doubt in my mind that Geno can put awesome deals together. And Geno has a full race shop that any Mark VII owner could finds tons of stuff to spend money on. Like I said, I have a thick skin but the jab wasn't necessary.

The Lincoln contest had a nearly 3 way tie, and the Caddie contest looks like it is going the same way. So if you ask me, I think we did a good job picking out the finalists. Like I said on both contests, it would have been very easy to pick 5 or 6 more cars, things were that close and that tough to choose from.

Enjoy the 4th, I'm off to take my kids to the parade...

hey monstermark not trying to take a jab or anything, but was merely trying to make a point in our contest no one in the lincoln group made any kinda fuss. sorry if it came out any different, but it was the most obvious point i could make. and seemed applicable here. and as far as the markVII community coming together with geno on products well that can be hung up. i spoke with geno over the phone when he was doing the pillar pods and wanted one, but my funds were short then and now that i'm ready for 'em they're not available and there was quality issues. but interest was low and geno pulled 'em. so in all there wasn't anything that geno could offer at the time of the contest, but hey you never know maybe the fire will burn again and geno will come thru with somethin' useful for the VII's.

Geno can get pretty much any part, OEM or aftermarket - for pretty much any Ford product. He only focuses on the Mark VIII - its not an exclusive. Just last week he had a Wiles jeep in his shop......... There are some parts that are no longer available naturally, but one thing that struck me about Geno when I first met him, if he can do something to help someone, and he can do so reasoably, he'll do it gladly. You want a wing for the mark viii? we need 20 confirmed orders for a jobber to make it. -- and Geno will be able to get it done. Is he gonna have one single part made?, no, that wouldnt be reasonable.

Not true. We have alot of lurkers for some reason. I see alot of LS and CTS people floating around, they dont post quite as often however. I wish they would post more - I really want to have a large and varied community here....

I've been quiet during most of this discussion, but think I need to speak up.

We created these contests for all the members, and have tried to make them as fair as possible. They are suppose to be fun and make the site a lil more interesting. I am a little dismayed by some of what ive been reading. This isnt the lottery with 100 million on the line, this is just a little contest to make things a little more fun. I easily could have just sold the ad space and put the money in my pocket - instead, I chose to make things a little more fun and make a few contests.

I am however pleased that you all have pretty much self-regulated this conversation, and expressed opinions without things getting out of control or nasty about it. I really thank everyone for that. I've been on boards where everyone just complains about everything, and nothing gets better. Even I have gotton caught up in it. On those boards this conversation would be the online version of a riot by now. I swore I wouldnt let that happen here, and im very happy to see none of you will either. Thank you all for each doing his part to keep things great around here.

So, right now I have 3 more contests to do. (I'm still considering topics.) I just hope that you all have fun with them, because thats why im doing them. If you get a chance, try to let the vendors know that you appreciate their generosity. Send them an email thanking them, or call and ask about prices or something. Let them know you appreciate it. This way they want to do more and we can keep having more fun things like this.

I really wasn't trying to whine or cause any problems. It's a contest for a 100 dollar gift certificate. I think some of us including myself let our high school football attitudes get the best of us. We all just wanted to win, who doesn't. All the cars are beautiful in their own way and I would like to be the first person to apologize for portraying any whining or unappreciative attitude. To the admins, my hat goes off you are doing a phenomenal job and I am glad to ba part of this growing community. I really don't think anybody was actually getting angry, just a little button pushing. I wish the best to all of you. Again, my apology.

Thanks. The Lord forgives, why shouldn't we. lol. I also wanted to say that I was a member of another CTS forum and there is just no comparison between the two. You guys are awesome.

It would be amazing if we could all somehow get together. I live in LI New York. Around here there is a strip called 231. All the young guys hang out there with there souped up mustangs and civics. I could only imagine if we all rolled up there on a Friday night. (Exhausts rumbling in the distance) There would certainly be a lot of jaw dropping.

I would love to set up a NY meet. i started a thread about this earlier but I didn't get much of a reply. It sure would be fun!
