Wiring question

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

When you have two wires (12V) of the same color, one black with a stripe and the other just black without a stripe, which one is (+) and which one is (-)? Anyone.

standard color coding would inticate black striped is negative. always use a voltmeter or multimeter. it's never worth the risk

Touch both to your tounge... the one that hurts is positive

Seriously, I wouldn't know. But a multimeter or test light is a must and they're pretty cheap.

Its for a set ccfl's, the ballasts are wierd. They are usually labeled. The directions say the red is positive, yet there is no red wire.

Easy,

The ballast (transformer) will only work one way..... if you connect it and it doesnt work then obviously flip it. I just did this last Sat to test a ccfl.

Nothing will blow or burn...."I can only speak for this topic only, trying without knowing will screw up your ride!"

But with the ccfl transformer you should be safe.
