Ford really needs to pull their heads out of their asses and start selling good cars agian. Lincoln needs a better lineup. They need to freshin it up something FWD fine. I think one FWD car is a good thing but the whole lineup. Have they not learned from Cadillac. They slumped big time in the 80's and 90's by having an entire FWD line of cars. Ford nieeds to save L and M. If they don't the company will definately fall to pieces. They also need to Redisign the TC. And bring back the Conti, and Mark series.

With a comments like some of those on this thread, the nay sayers at Ford will be yelling for Bill Ford to cheapen Lincoln down even more, saying that Nassar (previous CEO) was right when he said that the number of mature, intellectual individuals buying Lincoln’s was shrinking rapidly. And don’t kid yourself, the Planning people at Ford have started to constantly read threads like these on the internet so as to keep a “flavor” of Lincoln owners thinking!!
Ford is in a real crisis because they (like GM and Chrysler) have lost valuable market share over the past 30 years, to the point where they just cannot cover all the promises they made to their employees - wages, health, pensions, etc.. Right now, they make more profits from their credit division then they do from U.S. sales, a very sad situation…. Lincoln _COULD_ be a very big help in getting the company back into the black because buyers that buy Lincoln’s new (especially Town Cars) are either corporations, more well to do individuals, or livery companies (limo’s, taxis, etc).. These individuals and entities made Lincoln into the highly profitable division it was up until the late 90’s. At which time, sales started on a downward slide that continues today. Why did this happen??? We currently have three Town Cars: a ’94 Signature (purchased new), a ’96 Cartier (purchased used with 70k miles), and a 2003 Signature (purchased new). I am not happy with the ’03 model and feel it was the waste of the $43000+ that I stupidly wrote a check for. Never again!! The car runs perfectly and in the 16,000 miles my wife has put on it so far, there have been zero problems; but, it obviously has been cheapened from the ’94 and ’96 versions (quality wise). And my biggest gripe: It simply looks like a bloated Toyota!!! I could live with the slight cheapening throughout the car – but not with the Japanese look-alike design any longer. If Ford had continued to build a LUXERY car, that has the look and feel of a “class act”, then they would still have their all important buyer base. They could have done the styling for the ’98 – ’06 versions in a much more, distinctive Town Car type styling. But they chose not too. My bottom line is that I’ve bought my last new Lincoln. And I’m very sad to say that. Maybe, with a Ford back at the helm of the company he’ll see the light - after all it was Edsel Ford that had the wisdom to purchase Lincoln from Leeland, and then develope it into the “Class Act” that it was for most of it’s life. Hopefully Henry Fords Great-Grandson, William Ford, will see the light….. |
preach on brotha!
